Meet TSG Governing Board Member, Tyrone Jordan

Tyrone has been transformational since joining our family, his dedication to spreading our impact far and wide by bringing our programs to new places. Where are you from originally and what brought you to Chicago? I’m originally from Flint, MI — My wife is from Hyde Park and I moved here after we got engaged.
What is your professional background and what do you currently do for a living? Sales/Consulting around Health Insurance. Currently I work for the largest insurance broker in the world. My title is Vice President, Business Development (MMA-MI)
How do you connect to the arts? I have never been artistic, but some of my best friends are artists. Whether it’s painting, photography or poetry, I have always had a deep appreciation for what artists do.
How did you get connected to The Simple Good and what has it meant to you to be a member of the Board? I saw the quote tees in a store in Hyde Park and loved it, so I reached out to Priya to see if I could sell them on my own site. We started there and then started selling them in the gym my wife and I own in Hyde Park. As I attended showcases and other events, I knew I needed to find a way to make a positive impact on this organization.
How have you seen The Simple Good make an impact since joining the organization? I’ve participated in events with some of our students and have heard testimonials from them and their teachers about how they have grown by being a part of the programs.
What does The Simple Good mean to you? Understanding what is good in your life and everyone using those goods to spread that love throughout the world.
What do you want to see in the future for The Simple Good? Growth. The more students we can reach, the more change we will see.
Is there anything else that you want The Simple Good community to know about you? I am passionate about seeing this organization continue to grow and help develop our youth and challenge anyone to come to a showcase and not feel the same way when it’s over.
