Meet TSG Governing Board Member, Bhavana Devulapally

Where are you from originally and what brought you to Chicago? I am from Hyderabad, India. We moved to Chicago when I was 1 year old when my dad was looking for work opportunities.
What is your professional background and what do you currently do for a living? I am the Chief Information Officer at Ventas, a healthcare real estate firm. I started off in consulting for 11 years of technology, process, and strategy consulting. I then spent 11 years at Hyatt Hotels managing technology portfolios and doing a lot of project management work. I joined Ventas in 2019.
How do you connect to the arts? My “primary focus” has always been very STEM heavy, but I always had a strong appreciation for the arts — literature, painting, drama. I find art an amazing way to tell the human experience and an outlet of expression.
How did you get connected to The Simple Good and what has it meant to you to be a member of the Board? I learned about The Simple Good from Stephanie Pirishis as she became involved. I love the idea of bringing positive energy into communities especially as so many people face stressful situations in their daily lives.
How have you seen The Simple Good make an impact since joining the organization? Through my short experience so far, I was able to attend a Virtual Showcase. Watching kids share their art and their positive stories was so rewarding.
What does The Simple Good mean to you? Focusing on and creating positive energy in your immediate environment
What do you want to see in the future for The Simple Good? I want to see more kids be able to benefit from the program and be able to carry what they learn forward.
